SUMMARY:Days of '47 KUTV Pops Concert - July 11th and 12th
DESCRIPTION:Click this link to select and download your tickets\n     Sterling Poulson\, music director and conductor of the Days of ’47 KUTV Pops concert since 1997\, invites you to join the Salt Lake Symphony\, and guest artists Lark & Spur for two great nights of inspiring music celebrating the spirit of the Pioneers that is still strong today\, presented by Seven Brothers Burgers and ENVE Composites \n\n\nFounded in 1976\, the Salt Lake Symphony is one of the area’s most highly respected volunteer driven orchestras. The Salt Lake Symphony is a non-profit organization dedicated to performing quality classical music concerts for the Wasatch Front community. The Symphony performs around 15 concerts per year. The approximately seventy-five hard-working musicians of the SLS volunteer roughly 10\,000 hours annually to accomplish this goal. Although the members of the Salt Lake Symphony come from all walks of life and frequently work full-time in other professions\, they hold one thing in common: They play for the love and passion of music. Their dedication as volunteers sets them apart and creates a unique bond. \n\n\n     Lark & Spur is an acoustic sextet known for their sophisticated blend of jazz standards\, Celtic and French folk songs\, gypsy swing\, bossa nova and Broadway tunes. Originally formed as a duo\, when Lori Decker and Jeff Whiteley began performing on the streets of European cities like Paris and Munich\, their captivating sound led to appearances on French radio and television and invitations to European jazz festivals such as Montreux\, Brienz\, and Deauville. Over time\, the group expanded to include additional guitars\, piano\, double bass\, and percussion. Their performances are characterized by respect for melody\, memorable vocals\, soaring harmonies\, intricate arrangements\, and heartfelt delivery. Views of Lark & Spur videos on YouTube number in the millions. Lark & Spur was instrumental in the founding of the arts nonprofit\, Excellence in the Community.

SUMMARY:Armed Forces Day Concert
DESCRIPTION:SALT LAKE CITY – Music Director Sterling Poulson and the Choral Arts Society of Utah invite you to a FREE concert dedicated to honoring our men and women in the Armed Forces\, both past and present. The evening entertainment begins at 4:00 p.m. with the 23rd Army rock combo Article 15. The band\, choir take the stage at 5:00 performing patriotic favorites which conclude with a rousing rendition of John Philip Sousa’s Stars & Stripes Forever. The Utah Department of Veterans and Military Affairs will honor outstanding service members and employees from military units across Utah.  \nFeatured at this year’s concert is a performance of a new patriotic piece\, “These are the Stars\,” with words and music by Utah’s own Robyn Butterfield Buttars. Inspired by an extensive history of family members serving in the Armed Forces from World War II to the present\, she wanted to recognize our heroes. Quoting from the lyrics. Who so loved freedom\, that they might die so those who live may see Old Glory fly. \nThe Utah National Guard 23rd Army Band has played for Presidents\, Senators\, Congressmen\, and Heads of State\, but they mostly enjoy promoting patriotism to the public.  It gives clinics and concerts for schools\, plays at civic functions\, marches in parades\, and provides music for military balls\, changes of command\, and pass-in-reviews. They regularly play for Armed Forces Day at the Gallivan Center\, and they also perform as part of the Days of ’47 Pops Concert every third year. The rock combo Article 15 will make you smile no matter what generation you hail from. \nNow in its 39th year\, members of the Choral Arts Society of Utah volunteer their time and talents to further the choral art in Utah\, as well as benefit organizations offering humanitarian services to the local area.  For more information on upcoming events\, please visit our website at www.casu.org\, and be sure to follow us on Facebook\, Instagram\, and Twitter.     \nSpecial thanks to our sponsors who make this event possible: The Utah Department of Veterans and Military Affairs\, The Joseph and Kathleen Sorenson Legacy Foundation\, The Larry H. and Gail Miller Family Foundation\, Salt Lake County Zoo\, Arts and Parks\, Bowlers to Veterans\, The Gallivan Center\, and KUTV 2News.
