Scott Scharman, Board Chair: Scott is currently a Vice President for U.S. Bank where he has worked since 1982. He attended Salt Lake Community College and the University of Phoenix where he earned a degree in Business Administration. He is a retired Major of the Utah Air National Guard. Scott is the former Board Chair of the Clark Planetarium, past President of the Valley West Rotary Club, and past Board member of the Valley West Chamber of Commerce.
Jacqueline Poulson, Vice Chair: Jacqueline has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Administration from the University of Phoenix, and is currently the State Officer at the George E. Wahlen Ogden Veterans Home, holding that position since June 2019. During that time her passion for taking care of Veterans during the difficult time of COVID-19 had a meaningful and positive impact on the residents of the facility. Jacquee is a master at balancing the needs of the healthcare staff, while at the same time coordinating the budgets and ensuring that the federal, state, and local policies are followed. Her ability to communicate with the residents and their families has allowed many of them to apply for and receive the benefits they so richly deserve. It is always done with a smile and with an appreciation for their service to our country. She was deployed to Operation Desert Storm in 1990 where she worked as a Casualty Assistance Officer, 97th General Hospital, Frankfurt, Germany. Sergeant First Class Jacqueline Poulson retired from the Utah Army National Guard at the end of 2008 after 23 years of service. Since retirement, she has held several military-related positions both at Utah Valley University and the VBA Regional Office. In 2011 Jacquee returned to the Utah National Guard as a federal employee working in funeral honors. In 2013, Jacquee became the State Officer for the Southern Utah Veterans Home in Ivins, Utah, taking a lead role in the completion and dedication of the facility. After the passing of her husband Martin in 2016 she moved back to Utah County working as a Veterans Service Officer at the Mervin Sharp Bennion Veterans Home in Payson. In 2017, she moved back to the Utah National Guard as the Executive Assistant to the Assistant Adjutant General and eventually moved to the position of Executive Assistant for The Adjutant General. Her main goal is to round out her career serving Veterans any way she can for as long as she can. She stated that Veterans are always close to her heart. Her greatest happiness comes from spending time with her 3 children, 9 grandchildren 2 great-grandchildren, and her husband Sterling Poulson.
Caroline Nehren, Executive Secretary:
Dave Traveller, Treasurer: David Traveller graduated from Utah State University with a degree in Accounting. He joined the firm of Arthur Young & Company (now Ernst & Young) in Salt Lake City. David spent 10 years in their audit department specializing in the Entrepreneurial Services Group, serving start-ups and high-tech companies. Dave left Ernst & Young to start his own company, Traveller & Company, LLC. He is a member of the Utah Association of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Sterling S. Poulson, Music Director: Sterling Poulson is the Music Director and Founder of The Choral Arts Society of Utah, conducting as many as six concerts each year with the 100-voice choir. He earned his Bachelor’s in Choral Music Education from the University of Utah. He was the Chief Meteorologist for KUTV 2News, joining the KUTV 2News Weather Team in December 1989, and recently retiring in December 2023. This veteran forecaster graduated with a degree in Meteorology and trained as a forecaster in the United States Air Force. During his ten years on active duty with the USAF, He served a thirteen-month tour in Vietnam from 1970-1971. He served six years with the Air Force Reserve and 11 years with the Utah Air National Guard, retiring after 27 years of service.
Andrea Bennett, Event Coordinator: Andrea has a degree in Elementary Education and is certified in Special Education for children birth to 5 years of age. She has been teaching for 21 years, the last 12 in teaching special education for preschool children. She was the volunteer coordinator for the local chapter of the American Diabetes Association’s Tour de Cure for 4 years. Andrea joined the choir in 2006 and has served in many capacities. These include the Gala Fundraising Committee for 6 years, the last 3 as Chair, and costuming. She has been a member of the Board for several years as Membership Chair and now as Event Coordinator.

Doug Steeneck, Advisor: Doug is a retired Major from the U.S. Air Force after nearly 24 years of service as both a non-commissioned officer and a commissioned officer. His service culminated with a tour in Afghanistan where he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal. He graduated with honors from Weber State University with a bachelor’s degree in Business Management. Doug has volunteered for over 20 years with the Boy Scouts of America. He has also served in the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard, the U.S. Pony Club, the National Guard Officers Association, and the 4-H program. With family and friends, he enjoys hunting, camping, boating, fishing, and working with wood and metal.
