The Choral Arts Society of Utah and Utah National Guard 23rd Army Band will present their annual Armed Forces Day Concert on Saturday, 15 May 2021. The concert will begin at 5 p.m. in the Murray Park Amphitheater, 495 E. 5300 S.

Under the direction of Music Director Sterling Poulson and Chief Warrant Officer Denny Saunders, the concert will honor the men and women who serve and have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. “We are excited to return to the Murray Park Amphitheater where this concert was launched in 2003”, said Poulson. “This 18-year tradition was interrupted by COVID-19, but our men and women in uniform have stepped up not only to protect our freedom but to assist in testing and vaccinating so many of us this past year. We are thrilled to join with the 23rd Army Band to honor them in word and song once again and say, ‘Thank you for your service’.” The program includes tributes to service members and veterans as well as patriotic favorites, including John Philip Sousa’s “Stars and Stripes Forever.” The concert is free of charge, but tickets are required due to limited seating. For admission, send an email to casu@xmission.com and indicate the number of tickets desired. A limit of 4 per request applies. Current CDC guidelines on May 15th will be followed.

The 23rd Army Band has played for Presidents, Senators, Congressmen, and Heads of State.  Each year the Band performs for thousands of people across the State of Utah and the United States, giving clinics and concerts for schools, playing at civic functions, marching in parades, and providing music for military dances, changes of command, and pass-in-reviews.  The Rock Band, Article 15 will take you back to whatever generation you are from and consists of 2 guitar players, a bass guitar player, keyboard player, percussionist, and vocalist.

Now in its 36th year, members of the 100-voice Choral Arts Society of Utah volunteer their time and talents to provide quality performances, many of which benefit schools and organizations offering humanitarian services to the local area.
