Reichel Recommends describes lyric soprano Clara Hurtado Lee as . . .“vocally stunning … nothing less than poetic.”  Clara’s 2022 season included performances of Messiah with the Utah Symphony and Oratorio Society of Utah; the release of her first EP recording with guest artists Jenny Oaks Baker and Nathan Pacheco; and an Italian concert tour that included Rome and San Marino. Earlier this year she collaborated with Gentri and premiered a new work Fils de Dieu by Jared Oaks with the UVU Women’s Chorus and Opera Contempo. She sang the title role in Lucia di Lammermoor with Lyrical Opera Theater; concertized with her group Divamoms; and performed First Elf in Mendelssohn’s Midsummer Night’s Dream with Utah Metropolitan Ballet. Ms. Hurtado Lee began her Doctoral studies in the Fall of 2014 at the University of Utah, where she won a coveted spot in the Nancy Marriott Graduate Vocal Quartet.

The 100-voice Choral Arts Society of Utah is based in Salt Lake City. Many performances are free, including the annual Armed Forces Day Concert and the Days of ’47 Pops Concerts at Abravanel Hall. The West Valley Symphony was founded in 1991. It is an all-volunteer orchestra of 75-80 musicians from all over the Wasatch Front from Provo to Ogden. The West Valley Symphony of Utah performs at the Utah Cultural Celebration Center and is the official orchestra for the annual Larry H. Miller Christmas Carole Sing-Along. The West Valley Symphony performs annually with the Choral Arts Society of Utah for the KUTV/Salvation Army Holiday Pops concert to benefit the Angel Tree Program, as well as participating in the Utah Cultural Celebration Center’s WorldStage! concert series. They are often sought for community events such as Taylorsville Dayzz, and have performed with groups such as Imagine: Remembering the Fab Four, and ABBACADABRA.

This concert is funded in part by grants from the Salt Lake County Zoo Arts & Parks (ZAP), the Larry H. and Gail Miller Family Foundation, and the Joseph & Kathleen Sorenson Legacy Foundation.
